Our Story

It started with a simple question: How can we give back?

Kindness + Co. didn't begin with a plan to open a store.

It began with two friends, each coming from different careers, experiences and seasons of life, asking what it might look like to use what God had given us to give back to the communities we love.

We are Tricia and Cathy, co-founders of Kindness + Co. And somewhere along the way, that simple question became something much bigger than either of us imagined.

What began as conversations about serving our community and helping others grow their faith slowly grew into a vision for a place.

A place to experience the kindness of God and learn to live it out.

We imagined a welcoming space where you could walk through the doors exactly as you are. You might come to browse a book or find a meaningful gift. You might meet a friend, join a conversation, study Scripture, attend a workshop, pray, serve someone in need—or simply sit for a while.

We deeply believe in engaging Scripture and prayer at home. We believe kindness should be lived out in our workplaces, neighborhoods and everyday relationships. And we believe in the local church for gathering, worshiping, serving and growing together as the body of Christ. Kindness + Co. isn't meant to replace any of those things.

Instead, we began to wonder: What if there were another kind of space?

A place where someone could encounter God in an unexpected way. Where passion for following Jesus could be ignited. Where compassion could move from something we feel to something we actually do, transforming lives and strengthening community along the way.

Because we believe kindness is more than being nice.

Kindness is truly revealed in the heart of God.

And when we experience His kindness ourselves, it changes the way we see and respond to the people around us.

That's the heartbeat behind Kindness + Co.: creating opportunities to practice compassion, build meaningful connection, and strengthen community through acts of kindness - some wonderfully small, others wonderfully big.

As this vision has unfolded, we've become increasingly convinced that God is doing something special in Springfield and the communities surrounding it. His plans are far bigger than a storefront, a program—or the two of us.

We are simply humbled to have a small part in what He is doing.

So yes, you'll find books here. And gifts. And gatherings and classes and conversations and opportunities to serve.

But we hope you'll find something more.

We hope you experience the kindness of God.

We hope you discover other people to share life with.

We hope you find a way—maybe one you never expected—to make someone else's corner of the world a little better.

And we hope you'll join us.

Because what began as our question about how we could give back has become an invitation for all of us:

Let's make kindness part of everyday life.
